Times are tough....

I would love to sit here and type about how busy I am at the salon.  I would love to say I am the most popular hair stylist in all of Orange County.  But that is simply not the case.  Times are tough on everyone right now.  Business has slowed way down for a lot of stylist.  I am still trying very hard to become much busier, but in the mean time, I am looking for babysitting jobs.

If anyone knows a family that is looking for a babysitter/nanny, please let me know.  I am available on weekends, anytime Mondays and have a very flexible schedule.  I have a lot of experience, and can give references if need be.

If you or anyone you know is interested, please let me know and kindly pass this information along.

Currant Love Affair

I heart popcorn.  Like a lot.  Most people don't understand how serious it is.  It is borderline embarrassing.  There is one certain kind that I can't get enough of.  It is the O organics popcorn from Vons.   I can mow thru the whole bag in less than 30mins.   I seriously can't stop eating it.  Matt's Mom buys it for me and keeps it at her house.  I won't allow myself to buy it for my own home. I know it is totally sick and I need help.  Someone stop the madness!

Sexy Halloween Costumes

OK so Matt and I finally figured out what to be for Halloween. (Alice and Mad hatter)  That was hard work in its self, but to find the costume without spending a crazy amount of money will be work.  So, I was looking online for Halloween stores close to our house, online costume sites, etc....
Well I found a bunch of Alice costumes, the only problem is they are titled "sexy Alice".  I am totally aware of girls/women dressing slutty... oh I mean sexy for Halloween.  I am no stranger to that. (trust me)  Anyways,  "sexy Alice" is not church appropriate and I don't want be "sexy Alice".  So I was trying so hard to find an Alice dress that was longer than 2 inches below my rear, and not have my boobs hanging out.
So I found one on the same site as "sexy Alice" but the problem is it is only in plus sizes.  Size 18 or larger.  It was like this on many other websites.
OK, so let me get this straight.  If I am smaller than a size 18, I am supposed to look like a tramp?
Gee, I really love what Halloween has turned into.

There is a line in Mean Girls that said it best:
"In girl world, Halloween is the one night a year when a girl can dress like a total slut and no other girls can say anything about it."

So true, so GROSS.

How I love the innocence of children

As most of you know, I babysit sit almost every Saturday night.  I love these boys.  So cute, sweet, well behaved, and very grown-up for their age.  Tonight we were driving back to their house after a Red Robin dinner (their favorite and I hate it).
Jack (age 7) asked me if I know who I am going to vote for.  I lied and said I didn't know.  (I am not sure why i didn't tell him, something old about talking politics with a 2nd grader seems odd)
Anyway, he told me if he could vote, he would vote for McCain.  His 5 year old brother agreed.   I asked why, and the 5 year old, Adam, said because he has known McCain longer, since 07. (seriously he said that)  Then said "Bama (haha cute) hasn't been around until just now."
Jack said, "McCain is really old though."
Adam answered back with, "even though he is old I would still vote for him.  Age doesn't matter"  Remember Adam is 5.
Jack then asked, "if McCain wins will he be the oldest man as president ever?"
I am really not sure, I told him.   I am impressed with our very intellectual after dinner conversation and made the statement that if Obama wins, He would be the first black president.   The car sat quiet for a minute then, Jack says "What do you mean?  Like with a tan?"

High Fructose Corn Syrup Anyone???

Has anyone seen the new commercial about High Fructose Corn Syrup??   I am totally outraged by this!  It flat out states that it is as safe as sugar!!!  Are you kidding me?  SO BAD!

Reasons it is bad....
-it is a genetically modified

-main reason it is used is because it is cheap to make

-it is NOT natural, just because it used to be corn doesn't mean it still is after all the processing

-when tested on rats, the male rats did not reach adulthood.  They had anemia, high cholesterol, and heart hypertrophy (which means means their hearts enlarged until they exploded)  They also had delayed testicular development.  Basically, their little bodies fell apart.  The female rats were not so affected, but they were unable to produce live young.

Here is something I found on a website about it:
"The medical profession thinks fructose is better for diabetics than sugar," says Dr. Field, "but every cell in the body can metabolize glucose. However, all fructose must be metabolized in the liver. The livers of the rats on the high fructose diet looked like the livers of alcoholics, plugged with fat and cirrhotic."

I see the commercial all the time.  Like 3 times during an hour long show.  Who is funding this commercial?  The corn farmers or something?  I get sick to see this commercial.  So much information missing!  On the commercial the woman asks what is wrong with the H.F.C.S. and the other person just stands there like an idiot and doesn't say anything.  It is such a one side view!

Corn is made into many different things, an example, gasoline.  That doesn't mean I will start drinking gasoline!

Annoying....

Pretty recently I have decided to make some lifestyle changes regarding what I eat.  It is something after much thought and research that this is what I want to do and am very happy with my choice.  What is interesting to me, is how other people react to this decision.  It has come up in recent conversation and I am amazed by how much I have to defend my choice.  I feel as though I am being put on the spot with all the questions I am being asked.  I feel that many people disapprove, don't understand and are being very judgmental.  I am not doing anything unhealthy.   I am not forcing others to do it.  I am not really sure why it matters to others, if my choice is not affecting anyone but myself... than really, why does it matter??  Are they uncomfortable or unhappy with their eating habits, they have to try and bring me down?? Is this something I will always face or will it die down after the newness wears off?  (Gosh, I hope so.)  I really just don't understand.

YEAH!!!!

It's been a long week without my hubby and finally he comes home today.  I would think that the longer we have been together and the more times he goes out of town, that I would become used to it.  Nope, no at all.   I am excited and just want to see him, though I am a little afraid of what his beard will look like at this point!

R.I.P. So You Think You Can Dance

Yes, yes... a new post!  I got a little busy and lazy.

Anyways...  I am new watcher of SYTYCD.  Well, WAS a new watcher.  I can no longer watch this show after what happened on the last result show.

First off let me start at the beginning.  Before this season, I have never ever watched an episode of SYTYCD.  Which is surprising since I danced growing up and love it to death.  It is something I miss doing almost every single day.  I know dance and really understand it and I am totally mesmerized every time I watch a trained dancer.  So, a few friends of mine were also shocked I don't watch this program, and have been trying to get me to watch it. (DB and KT were the most persistent)

So, I finally give it a chance.  I was hooked!!!  I couldn't believe that I didn't watch it sooner!!  I was so smitten!!  I walked around declaring my love of SYTYCD!!  Best show ever!!  I even made sure it was on in NYC while I got ready for my evening out.  Love at first sight.

Well, of course on result show night (Thursday)  I sat down with bestie to watch who was to get kicked off.  We fast forward 40mins of the show (i hate when they take one hour to make a 2 min announcement!  Thank goodness for DVR)  Wait!?!?!?!  What?!?!?  Chelsea and Mark are gone?  This is B.S.!  How can this be happening?  They were the best dancers on the show!   Besides from Courtney they were the two best that were left!  Well, I guess I should say they had the best training.  And the week before Will got kicked off!  And he was Debbie Allan's protege!  What the heck!  This is a joke!

I no longer have any respect for this show and I will not watch it again, well this season anyways.  I will try and have an open mind for next season.
Until then R.I.P.

I am really missing my husband at the moment.  He left Saturday and I have missed him every second he has been gone, but I am really having a rough time tonight :(

Mom's Day.....

OK, I am curious about something.  First of all, if my mom and/or Matt's mom read this, it has nothing to do, with anything that we did yesterday.  Second of all, I think making your Mom feel special is very important, that is not what is in question.  OK, now that I made myself clear.

I am not a mom (duh!) but I was noticing how crazy Mother's day gets.  I went to Fashion Island on Friday and it was nuts!!  My sister went to Target to get my youngest sister a Graduation card, and she told me she pretty much lost her mind in there.  As we were driving to spend time with Linda, I saw the crowds of people spilling outside of restaurants just waiting for their tables.  I am not talking one or two restaurants, but I kid you not when I say every restaurant that I came across.

When Matt and I were leaving the beach to start round two of the Mother's day extravaganza, I told him that IF (and that's a BIG IF) he ever makes me a mom that I don't want to celebrate Mother's day on Mother's day.  I told him that the Monday after would be just as great.  Who wants to be in an over crowed restaurant and "trying" to have a special day with your mom when the whole rest of the world is.  There is something about that, that seems super odd to me.  But then again, I am not a mom and I am also anti-Valentine's day.

So Moms...my questions to you, do you feel the same?  Do you feel Mother's day is too forced?  Do you feel that there is too much pressure and expectation?  Would it mean the same to you if it was a couple days before or after?  Am I failing to see the importance on doing it on the actual day?

Night Owl

I have played so much Mahjongg my eyes are going to fall out.  At the same time I am watching Showbiz Tonight news, with the same story being played over and over again.  I don't even care anymore about Miley Cyrus' photo shoot.  Stop bringing so much attention to it.  Please be responsible for your own actions.  I have looked at every gossip website ever made.  And did some online window shopping.  Matt took his "nite time" meds and I am missing him and I am bored to death.  I fear I will go lay down in bed and stare at the ceiling.  What will I do?  Why am I wanting to be up late every night?  Why does Matt want to be in bed so early? (tonight it's bcuz he is sick, but he also enjoys an early bed time)

I am totally going nuts at the moment.

I just heard Joel Osteen tell a blond joke.
I am not sure how I feel about that.

While the Hubby is away....

I tend to do things I might not normally do.  Some of these things are from my former single life.

Yesterday:  My Hubby was around till about 2:30pm, we hardly saw each other, because he had his gig at church and I worked for a couple hours (which is SUPER unusual on a Sunday) then it was the Laker's game 1.  After Matt left, I did nothing.  Seriously, NOTHING!!!  I haven't been able to do that in such a long time. (it doesn't happen often because my husband goes stir crazy.) I thought about going to the gym, but no.  At 8:30pm, I left to start my adventure.

Today: I played Mom for a day.  Moms are for sure unappreciated.  A never ending job.  I totally understand what nap times are for.  So Mom has a break.  The kids were excellent, they were not a problem.  With that said,  I could not imagine a bad day with kids.  I would probably run away to say the least.  It was a very interesting day.  I learned a lot about myself to be honest.  So first thing tomorrow morning I have my appointment to get my tubes tied.  Relax.  I am Kidding.  Maybe  ;)

Tonight:  Again, I am so happy I didn't have much to do.  I needed to rest after my day.  My dinner is very different then if Matt were here, I am pretty sure I ate a pack of Hello Kitty fruit snacks and a handful of peanut butter M&M's and water.

Here is a new guilty pleasure that would not have happened if my lovely husband were home. Gossip Girls.  I made it a point when it first came out to not watch it or even pretend to be interested.  So, tonight I had too much time on my hands and that is what I watched and I believe I am hooked.  There are definitely things about this show I do not understand.  How the heck old are these girls??  They are at bars in NYC drinking.  I understand the fake I.D. thing. Been there, done that.  But these places these teenage(?) girls are going are very chic and posh and I have no idea why these restaurants/bars/clubs would even think of letting these girls in.  I am missing some back story? Fill me in.  I also must be getting old, because part of me was in shock that this show is geared for teenagers, and let's just say it takes a lot to shock me.

Now I am blogging and looking forward to my night time phone call from the love of my life.   I miss him so much.  I hate it.  Matt if you are reading this, just get in the car and come home...NOW!   I will not sleep well until he is home.  Even though I get the whole big bed to myself (heehee)  I will sleep but not be fully rested.

There are things I enjoying doing alone. (sometimes I LOVE to be anti-social)  But I want Matt by my side ALWAYS.  Part of me is missing when he is gone.  (yes I know some are gagging...sorry)

Finally....

Kristy Lee Cook is gone!  Now David Archuleta has to go.

Here is my one problem with A.I.  Why must it take an hour to find out which one person is kicked off?  If I were to watch it DVR  style it would take like two mins.  I must admit, I do enjoy the witty banter between Ryan and Simon.  Last night Ryan had a few too many comments that made me question his sexuality more than usual.  Ryan's "too many Cooks in the kitchen" was the most clever thing I ever heard and so tricky! (not!) I think last night was extra painful, because of one woman.  Mariah Carey.  YUCK!  Double YUCK!!

So during this hour long extravaganza.  I was able to multi task/watch.  I also watched: Girlicious, the Democrat Debates, and Nancy Grace.  I feel very update on the world.

So I guess I owe A.I. a thank you.  Thank you for making a two minute announcement an hour long.  Thank you for making it as boring and painful as possible so I could watch other things.

Totally Awesome Day!!!

I have been a little edgy lately (my apologizes to anyone if my mood has bummed anyone out)
So a fun day with people I love was much needed.  (though I totally miss bff)
First my day started off with turbo kickboxing, which I love.  Then off to a hot sushi lunch date with Kristi and Lexie.  So much fun!  I have a new cupcake necklace and Lexie pretended to eat it, then told me to eat it.   She is so cute.  She was also sitting really close to me.  For some reason the Templeton's kids always do that to me, but I love them so I don't mind.
Next Matt and I went to the Spectrum and had a blast.  I got this amazing pillow from Urban Outfitters.  It has a day of the dead couple on it.  In case you don't know I collect those dolls... aka Katrina dolls.  I am Obsessed!!!!  If you have not been to my house you might not totally understand.  Anyways.... back to my day.  I also got a book.  I haven't read a whole book in a REALLY long time, so I got The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath.  I heard it was good and I don't ever remember reading anything by her, so I decided now is the time.  We decided to see a movie, before we went into the movie I had to sneak in a Pinkberry.  Yum!  So, we saw 21 and it was pretty good.  Next was Trader Joe's, gosh I love going to the market.  I am serious.  It is one of my most favorite things.  I can't wait till I get to go back.

Now I am at home.  I just ate a bowl of Captain Crunch and Fruity Pepples and am currently eating sweet potato french fries.  Nice dinner :)    Matt is watching Deal or No Deal (i am not a fan)  I wanted to watch Jon and Kate, plus 8.  So now I am blogging.

In other news...  my favorite celeb couple (it used to be Michelle Williams and Heath Ledger)... Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz (Matt's man crush) are totally preggers!!  They have been together for a while and got engaged last week.  I am so crazy about Ashlee Simpson!  I love her ever changing style and just seems like cool chick.  One of our favorite bands is Fall Out Boy. We have liked them for years, before they were ever on the radio.  A little less than 2 years ago Matt and I went to Pete's house warming party and had a blast.  He was totally the nicest guy ever!  He took time out of the party and taught Matt how to play Wii. (before it was even out)  They played for like 30mins in the middle of his party.  Rad house.. could totally tell a guy just moved in.

Again another knocked up unwed celebrity mom.  I won't hold it against you Ashlee, just hurry up and get married.

Like I said earlier I needed a fun day and am so thankful that I get to do the things I do and live the life I do.

New Kids on the Block

So I am really getting excited for this.  I am embarrassed that I can't wait.... yes a little bit.
But you see, New Kids was my first boy band crush.  I knew every word to every song.  My best friend when I was young was Carley Brown.  We were obsessed!  We knew all the dance moves We wrote fan letters and everything.  Mine was to Joey McIntyre.  I thought I was going to grow up and marry him.  I think I liked Joey so much because...  1. he was the cutest 2. he was the closet to my age.  I was about in 3rd grade when all this started.
Here are a few of my favorite NKOTB items:
-NKOTB lunch box
-NKOTB bed sheets :)
-NKOTB beach towel
-NKOTB wall posters (many, many posters)
-NKOTB snap bracelets
-NKOTB tee shirts
-NKOTB Joey McIntyre doll (my favorite, which I think I still have, I am going to look for him)
Now don't get me wrong, I am thrilled I will get to hear "Step by step" again, but am I going to be as excited to see these New "Men" on the block?  I mean they are like married and have kids and everything.  I dunno if they will be as sexy.
For one thing, I am NOT at all saying a man can't be sexy if he is married with children.  That is not the case.  My husband is married and he is crazy sexy hot.  But I think part of the appeal to NKOTB was the fact that I could dream about marring them.  I mean there was that tiny chance.
I also saw a picture in the new People (i couldn't find the pic online) Where Donnie had a hat on.  Is it cuz he is losing his hair? And Jonathan is 39?!?!?!  He is much closer to my mother's age than i remember.  So strange.
They did sound so cute and funny in the interview and really am looking forward to their return.

Too much sugar......

So, what happened to the days where I could eat candy all day long and not feel any different.
Yesterday on Easter, I ate so much candy (that was the plan all week)  First I started my day off with a Sugar Free Red Bull (which is one of my BFF's) then moved on to a Non-fat latte, then another Sugar Free Red Bull, had a bunch of homemade cookies (which were so yummy!).  This was all at church.  Which went great by the way.
Next we went to Matt's parents house and Linda out did herself.  Sticky buns, some kinda egg casserole, hash browns, and bacon.  So good!  I am still feeling good at this point.  Very tired from the busy week and I was up very early, but still feeling good.  Now come the Easter baskets.  I got a super cute Hello Kitty basket with all sorts of goodies:  Robins Eggs Whoppers (my favorite Easter candy) jelly beans, See's Candy, and a pair of leather leggings from American Apparel that I really wanted.
So now the candy eating really starts.  I am sitting on Randy and Linda's couch and just eating away.  It was great.  Matt and I are so tired at this point we are pretty much useless and not much fun.  We go home to take a nap before we go to my Dad's.  The hour nap was much needed but almost a tease.  Matt wakes up and says, "I think I just woke up with diabetes's."
So we go to my Dad's, where the candy eating continues.  At this point I am now keeping Starbursts jelly beans in my jacket pocket.  Matt is now judging me.  We watch the Lakers make their comeback and then lose :(
Now, I am basically in a sugar coma.  I am just sitting on the couch, not moving and not saying a word.  Why do I feel so bad?  I used to consume sugar like no other.  I always had an incredibly sweet, sweet tooth.  What happened to me?  I am really an adult that can't handle sugar like I used too?  I remember offering candy to my mom when I was little and she would rarely take it, saying she didn't really like candy anymore.  Have I now crossed that line?
So, it is Monday at noon and I feel awful.  I slept in and woke up with a headache and just plain old feel disgusting.
I will only be drinking water today.

Am I really a little Asian girl?????

Gosh I kinda suck at putting up new posts.

Tonight is date night.  Which means more often than not, sushi.  I could eat sushi like everyday of my life.
The other day Matt and I went to the Asian market and I was in love.  I declared I wanted to do all my shopping there.  Well, maybe I will skip the seafood section,  there were things in there that I wasn't aware even existed!  I  am in love with Poke, and Yan Yan, and there is the best candy there.  I very much am into Li hing.  Hello Kitty endorses a lot of different things there too!  Which who cares what it is, if Hello Kittys face is on it, it's mine!!!!  Matt found these giant looking juice boxes that are Tea that are milk honey flavored and I can't get enough!
Between my hello kitty obsession, sushi, love of Japanese art, my husband thinks that my true identity is a little Asian girl.  We joke about it and stuff, but I really think he is serious and I am starting to believe it.

Missing my other half...

Matt is away.  I hate it.  He left on the day that we have been married for exactly five months. Which seems kinda weird.  Marriage still feels very new and exciting (because it is), but it feels as though the actual wedding was so long ago, like years!  OK, anyways.... I also made big plans for this weekend which included LOTS of work (i am referring to my 12.5 hour day and my 14 hour day),  and I totally love being busy at work.  I also went to a couple slumber parties and had a blast.  Even with how busy I was, I was missing my husband like crazy!  I hate not waking up next to my hubby!  It is almost sick.  I am not lying, or stretching the truth when I say, I have not been myself since he left.  Definitely a little on the moody/craky side.  But overall just not me.  Matt truly is my other half.  My heart has hurt all weekend.  I sound totally emo, I know.

What I find very interesting is that I was never "that" girl.  I really enjoy being alone and quiet. Which is also kinda weird because i love, love, love, love, love being around friends and being loud (most of you know this) but I do really like to be mellow and alone. But if my husband is not within a 20 mile radiace I get weird.  Not that I am worrying about what he is doing or anything like that,  I just feel as though something is not right in my little world.

Have I become of these women that can not function normally without her "man".  When I was younger I was perfectly happy without a boyfriend and was always taught to be happy on your own and don't need a man to make you happy.  Are the "rules" and some life lessons different when you are married?

If Matt was not in my life on a daily bases I would freak.  Which I am sure that has a little something to do with why we got married ;)  I have always known I need him, I guess I am just reminded of that more so when he is gone.  And let me remind you that is has been gone for 48hours.  Am I pathetic or what?  But with all that said I hope I always feel this way whenever he is not around <3

Oh baby.....

As some as you know, I am totally nuts about kids.  I LOVE all my friend's kids to death and want to be around them a lot of the time, but for some reason the thought of me having my own makes me wanna barf.  I have no idea why.  Maybe because I am not ready, maybe I don't want to share my amazing husband with anyone, or the fact that they will ALWAYS be around, day and night.

Last Friday when the new People magazine came out, (the one with Nicole Richie and her new baby on it) I read it. (as I always do because I am WAY to into that junk, sick I know)

First let me just say, that I am not influenced by the actions of "celebrities", especially unwed celebrity mothers.

Ok back to my point...

I was so touched by the interview with her and her boyfriend, I teared up.  It was also the first time I realized what a blessing a child would be, and how your whole life would change, but it would be for the best not the worst.

On Monday, our good friend came over with his 6 week old baby and I was smitten.  I got to feed him, hold him, burp him and made him smile.  Matt was amazed at how natural I was with him. And believe it or not, I have always been very maternal.  The  baby was so stinkin' cute, I could take my eyes off him!

Trust me, I do NOT want kids tomorrow, but I entertained the idea and I didn't want to barf. That's a step right?  A good friend of ours last week said not to think of children as cribbling. Such a good point.  I did see it that way.  I always thought of it as ruining things and now I can see how much it would add to life.

A Wild Saturday Nite....

So, I am baby-sitting, on Saturday night, which is nothing new, I do it every Saturday.  It's been almost a year since I have started watching Jack (7) and Adam (5).  They are the most well behaved children I have ever come across.  It is almost uncomfortable and freaky.  But I love them SO stinkin' much.  Every Saturday at 5pm I get to their amazing house (which is VERY close to the salon)  we pick where we will go to dinner.  The usual is either, Red Robin, Islands, or sushi.  We go out, return home, they put p.j.'s on and brush their teeth, play Wii and then it's bedtime.  I read magazines or play Adam's nintendo DS till about 10pm when their parents return home.  It's a pretty sweet gig and the boys are so fun.  That's a typical Saturday night for me, if you didn't know.

Not that interesting I know.

I was sad when the Lakers lost last night.  The Ducks game was kinda fun.  Very strange to tell the truth.  I didn't really like it.  I think I am just used to Laker games.

I am really looking forward to tomorrow.  Sundays and Mondays are by far my most favorite days of the week.  I think because I get to spend the most time with my husband on those days. Sundays are rad because of church and I get to see all my favorite kids after the last church service.  (Their parents are pretty cool too)  I would really love to do something fun after church.  I have no idea what though.  Open to ideas :)

I hope everyone is having a wild Saturday night, just like me.

Blogs....

OK, so I admit I am starting this blog because it seems like everyone has a blog, and I am feeling a little left out.

A warning to my readers:

* I can not promise you anything interesting.  I think I have a fun, exciting life, but you might not agree.

* Spelling, punctuation, and simple grammar escape my mind about 90% of the time.  Yes, I am aware of this problem.  If spell check doesn't catch it, I won't.  Please don't judge.  I know how to do hair, not write.

* And I will probably type about my husband a lot.

So you have been warned.

ENJOY!
